[Linuxptp-devel] Creating a 1pps pulse on SDP0 with a intel 82576.

We have a design with an intel 82576, this chip should be able to
generate a hardware 1pps signal on SDP0.
I have studied the igb driver, but there's no support for this in the
drivers.
The ixgbe driver can do this, and I can understand from the driver how
this is done. This method is not useableon the 82576.
I find the datasheet very vague about generating a custom clock, it does
however mentions that it is possible to generate a clock.
Does anyone have a clue how to accomplish this ?
Any pointers would be welcome.

Thanks,
Gert-Jan.

I don't know how either, but you might try this question on the Intel
e1000-devel list as well.

Thanks,

The 1pps pulse output for the 82576 may be broken, I believe if I recall correctly the
Continuously re-arm an event using work items or similar. The real question is how
To return this pulse to the driver to actually generate the pulse. As far as I know,
The only way to do this is with a modified card that links one GPIO/SDP as output
Back into another SDP as input, and triggers the 2nd SDP to interrupt. This would require
Physically modifying the board to do so. I don't believe the 82756 board supports interrupts
On the pin that is an output as the X540 does.
